Tower Crash

Home

What you need

Blocks, cups, pillows

Parent setup — say this to start

Build a tower together. When it falls: "We found a bug! Let's debug it."

Kid action

Changes ONE thing — wider base, fewer pieces, slower stacking — and rebuilds.

Your role — the parent script

Ask "What should we change first?" Never fix it for them.

If they struggle or get it wrong: don't correct. Say "Interesting — show me how you got there." Then try one together. Wrong answers are data, not failure.

Age tip · 3–4: celebrate the crash itself. 5–6: three rebuilds, one change each.

Future skill

This is how humans stay valuable next to smart machines — noticing patterns, asking better questions, staying curious.

Why it matters

When the tower falls, that's not failure — that's the first lesson in engineering.
